Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about SafePass, its protection, privacy, and subscriptions.
1. What does SafePass actually monitor?
SafePass monitors your typing behavior, such as timing patterns between keystrokes. It does not monitor or record the actual content you type.
2. Does SafePass read what I type?
No. SafePass does not read or record what you type. It analyzes your typing behavior rather than the characters, words, or content you enter.
3. Does my typing data leave my device?
Your raw typing content never leaves your device. SafePass is designed to process and securely store your typing behavior locally, with encrypted communication used when data needs to be securely transmitted.
4. Can I use SafePass on multiple devices?
Yes. You can install SafePass and log in on multiple supported devices using the same account.
5. Which device is protected if I use multiple devices?
Only one device is actively protected at a time. The most recently logged-in device becomes the active protected device, while previously active devices become inactive after a short period.
6. How long does initial learning take?
The initial learning process usually takes a few hours, depending on how frequently you type and use your device. Once enough behavior has been collected, SafePass creates your behavioral model automatically.
7. Can I close SafePass during the learning process?
Yes. You can close SafePass and continue using your device normally. However, no one else should use the device until the initial learning process has been completed.
8. What happens when unusual activity is detected?
SafePass can send a security alert when it detects unusual activity. Depending on your settings, the alert may also include a screenshot of the page visible when the activity was detected.
9. What is the security email?
The security email is an alert sent when SafePass detects unusual activity. It allows you to review the event and, while the message is active, confirm that it was you or request that the device be locked.
10. What does "Not Me! Lock Device" do?
It allows you to remotely lock the protected device when you believe someone else is using it. The security response is available for a limited time after the alert is sent.
11. Why does SafePass ask for my password when I turn protection off?
SafePass requires your password before allowing protection to be turned off. This helps prevent another person using your device from disabling your protection without your permission.
12. Does SafePass work differently for company employees?
The core SafePass protection works the same way, but company accounts have additional organization features. Company administrators can manage members and view relevant security information from the company dashboard.
13. How does a company employee join SafePass?
A company employee joins SafePass through an invitation sent by their company administrator. After accepting the invitation, they create their account and can then install and use SafePass.
